Review on Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria
I haven’t done my favorite column on fragrance ingredients for a long time! Today, in line with the upcoming selection, I will talk about
Bergamot 🍃
In perfumery, the peel of the fruit is used. It is harvested in sunny Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Brazil in November and December. It takes 50 kg of raw material to produce 1 kg of oil!
Of course, this scent is well-known to all of you! Fresh, citrusy, tea-like with a slight aldehydic note.
There is an interesting legend. In 1938, an English ship carrying a shipment of tea and bergamot oil from India to Great Britain got caught in a storm. During the rocking, several barrels of bergamot oil overturned and spilled onto the bales of tea leaves. The high value of both cargoes did not allow the shipowner to simply throw away the “spoiled” tea, which later ended up on the shelves and was very much to the taste of the English! The new type of tea was named after Lord Grey, who owned the Indian tea plantations.
But let’s get back to perfumes! You will surely immediately recall your favorite bergamot fragrances. And if not, take a listen to Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria, Acqua di Parma Cedro Di Taormina, or Le Labo Bergamote 22 🍃
